Penn State Brandywine Graduation Session
This May afternoon with Camille was amazing. We spent the day wandering around Penn State Brandywine, talking, laughing, and stopping whenever we came across a spot that had pretty light or made for a fun photo. And while we were walking around campus, we found so many little spots that ended up making her gallery feel completely unique to her. Naturally, we had to make a stop at the lion statue. It’s one of those spots you can’t skip when you're photographing a Penn State graduate, and Camille made the most of it. From there, we kept exploring campus and looking for pockets of good light. We found some beautiful, soft light around the picnic tables that gave us some of my favorite portraits from the session. Then came the cherry blossoms. The trees were in bloom and made the prettiest backdrop for her photos. There’s something about springtime on a college campus that makes graduation sessions feel extra special. Everything is blooming and changing, which somehow feels fitting when someone is getting ready to graduate and move into a whole new chapter of life.
But one of my favorite discoveries of the day was a garden area we happened to come across. We stopped for a few portraits and ended up creating some absolutely beautiful images there. The greenery, the light, and Camille’s energy all came together so naturally.
Of course, Camille is more than just a pretty smile in front of the camera. She’s also incredibly smart and has spent her college years studying biology — which is no small accomplishment! It was so fun getting to hear a little about her and what she’s been working toward while also celebrating everything she’s accomplished.
What I loved most about this session was that we didn’t have to force anything. We just walked, explored, found good light, laughed a lot, and let the photos happen naturally.
